It used to be difficult to play tennis outside in the winter. This is now possible thanks in part to the advent of artificial grass. Of course, it is also cheaper and easier to maintain a tennis court made of artificial grass.
In order to keep the game level high, it was decided to also use sand on tennis courts. We do this to ensure that the game elements of playing on clay are not lost.
